RJ Smith Companies was founded in 1995 in Richmond, Virginia specializing in Site Development and Heavy Highway Construction. Today, we provide full scale Demolition while also focusing on Civil Construction. We also have experienced teams providing Erosion Control, Recycling, Utility Infrastructure, and Emergency Services. Our office staff is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to handling the variety of administrative requirements of these industries.

Richard obtained his values of God, Family, Country from a young age. As a graduate of Benedictine (Class of '88) Richard had hard work and discipline instilled into his daily routine. Gaining construction experience from his family's residential excavation business, Richard decided to start RJ Smith Companies in 1995. Richard's vision and leadership has given the company a reputation for providing safe and efficient construction services for our clients.
Richard, his wife Monique and their three daughters reside in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
On November 18th, 2018 the Smiths' raised the largest American flag on the tallest flag pole in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Together the Smiths' remain actively involved in their local communities and find great joy in giving back to causes that align with their values.
